LaVar Ball faces lawsuit over alleged basketball court debt at California mansion

LaVar Ball is back to being in the headlines — and not for the best reasons.

Court records obtained by The California Post revealed that Ball is being sued by MD Steel Inc. because he allegedly didn’t foot the entire bill for a basketball court’s installation at his home.

The complaint was filed in January, and court documents indicate that Ball still owes $221,928 for the renovation, which amounted to over $970,000 total but which Ball only paid $754,391.

Ball did a full house tour with the Kiya Studios YouTube channel, which was published in March. At one point in the tour, Ball showed off the basketball court inside his house, which was clearly still under construction. There seemed to be someone actively working on the court while Ball was showing it off for the camera.

Ball also flaunted several elements of his $5.2 million Chino Hills mansion during a livestream with N3on. Now that same mansion is under scrutiny because of this lawsuit, which was first reported by TMZ.

News of this comes one day after LaVar’s son, LaMelo, was traded from the Hornets to the Timberwolves. LaVar also revealed during the livestream that his 30-year marriage to his wife, Tina, is coming to an end.

LaVar didn’t actually buy this mansion. His son, Lonzo, bought it for him shortly after he was selected by the Lakers with their No. 2 pick in the 2017 NBA Draft.

LaVar’s Chino Hills home will already be emptier, after he said he and his wife are no longer together. And now Ball also has this court lawsuit to worry about.
