Bill Maher savages NYC rep candidate Darializa Avila Chevalier as ‘patient zero’ of the ‘woke mind virus’

WASHINGTON — Comedian Bill Maher says he’s identified the loopy “patient zero” among the extremist woke crowd: New York City congressional candidate Darializa Avila Chevalier.

Maher torched Chevalier’s radical positions such as abolishing prisons, the border and cops while speaking on his HBO “Real Time” show on Friday, adding that she’s emblematic of the far-left flank of the Democratic Party that could put his typical Dem vote in play in the future.

“There’s one candidate, she will be a congresswoman from New York’s 13th District, who the New York Times asked her if someone murders someone randomly, should they go to jail? Couldn’t get her to say yes to that,” Maher said.

Darializa Avila Chevalier is “patient zero” among Democrats stricken with the “woke mind virus,” Bill Maher said.

“She says, ‘No more police ever, at all, ever.’ She says our veterans are war criminals. She said f–k Kamala Harris and Joe Biden’s a rapist,” the host said.

“So there is a woke mind virus, and I think we found patient zero.”

Avila Chevalier prevailed in last week’s Democratic primary against Congressional Hispanic Caucus Chairman Adriano Espaillat, whose seat covers upper Manhattan and parts of The Bronx. She was endorsed by New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani.

Ahead of her primary victory, Avila Chevalier scrubbed some of her highly offensive past social-media posts. In some of them, she praised communism — and boasted about wiping her dirty hands on the American flag because she couldn’t find a napkin.

During his Friday show, Maher spoke with GOP Vice President JD Vance and vented about the rise of the far left within the Democratic Party.

“If this is where the Democratic Party is going — this obsession with Israel, with the Jew-hating, they don’t believe in capitalism, no prisons. If this is where they’re going, my vote is in play,” Maher told the veep.

“Every year, I don’t make my decision by who has an R or a D. I actually always came to the conclusion that the Democrat was probably better and voted for them,” the comedian explained.

Maher has long considered himself a Democrat and more left-leaning on most issues. But he has grown increasingly frustrated with the woke and socialist left.

But he also told Vance that President Trump’s general denial that US elections are fair is a dealbreaker for him.

Avila Chevalier’s campaign did not respond to a Post request for comment Sunday.
