Taylor Swift’s Getting Married: Movies, TV Episodes, And A Music Video To Watch Before Taylor Swift’s Wedding

It appears it’s Taylor Swift‘s world, and we just have to live in it.

As you probably have heard through the grapevine, Swift’s wedding is supposed to take this July 4th weekend. The event has spawned dozens of bizarre rumors and is even being dubbed “America’s royal wedding.” According to TMZ, Swift is even building a castle as part of the decor for her wedding. Talk about being subtle and private!

In honor of her rumored wedding weekend celebration that you can’t stop hearing about, we’re here to educate the Swifties. That’s right. With all the noise surrounding the pop star’s wedding with her football fiancé, Travis Kelce, it’s important to remind yourself why people get married: love.

Although, Swift’s wedding is allegedly taking place at Madison Square Garden, there are many normal depictions of beautiful, intimate weddings in film, TV, and even music videos. So, we’re here to break down all of entertainment’s best wedding-themed moments before the singer’s big day.

  1. ‘Bridesmaids’

How can you not include Bridesmaids on any film list? The Kristen Wig-led movie has one of the best ensembles in a modern-day comedy. Featuring comedy legends like Maya Rudolph, Melissa McCarthy, and Wendy McLendon-Covey, the cast’s electric chemistry makes every moment feel like fireworks. If you’ve never watched the classic comedy, the film follows Annie (Wig) as she takes on the role of maid of honor (and all the responsibilities) for her best friend, Lillian (Rudolph). However, things don’t always go to plan. One of the most hilarious scenes takes place at a bridal shop and will have you belly-laughing until it hurts.

  2. ‘New Girl’ Season 2, Episode 25

No other than Taylor Swift herself made a cameo in the season 2 finale of New Girl. The episode titled “Elaine’s Big Day” explores Nick and Jess deciding the future of their relationship as Cece’s wedding day approaches. Swift makes a brief appearance at the wedding as Elaine, the woman who objects at Cece’s wedding and ultimately leaves the ceremony with the groom. It’s a comedic moment which fans on Reddit believe is a nod to Swift’s song “Speak Now,” which is about objecting at a wedding.

  3. ‘My Best Friend’s Wedding’

It’s impossible to count how many classics Julia Roberts has starred in. One of her most beloved films is the romantic comedy, My Best Friend’s Wedding. The film—co-starring Cameron Diaz and Dermot Mulroney— follows Julianne (Roberts) who has the epiphany she’s in love with her best friend Michael (Mulroney). However, Michael informs Julianne he is getting married to a younger woman (Diaz), which leaves Julianne no other choice but to win him back. They don’t make rom-coms like this anymore.

  4. “I Bet You Think About Me (Taylor’s Version)” Music Video

Surprise! Swift has previously been a bride (well, while acting). In the “I Bet You Think About Me (Taylor’s Version)” music video, Swift plays an ex-girlfriend haunting the groom (Miles Teller) on his wedding day. The video is directed by Swift’s ex-best friend, Blake Lively, and stars Teller and his wife, Keleigh Teller, Swift’s former friend. Messy! We’re not too sure if Swift will want to rewatch this video as she prepares for her wedding.

  5. ‘Father of the Bride’

Father of the Bride is one of Steve Martin‘s more interesting entries in his filmography. Co-starring the late icon Diane Keaton, the film is about George (Martin) and Nina (Keaton) who are shocked when their daughter reveals she is getting married. From here, a hilarious comedy about the stress about George planning an over-the-top, extravagant wedding ensues. For all you Only Murders in the Building fans out there, Martin Short is comedic gold as the unforgettable wedding planner, Franck Eggelhoffer, in his scenes with his longtime friend, Martin.

  6. ‘Friends’ Season 7, Episode 23

In Friends‘ season 7 finale titled ‘The One with Monica (Courtney Cox) and Chandler’s (Matthew Perry) Wedding,” Monica and Chandler are about to tie the knot. In true sitcom fashion, Chandler starts to freak out after the idea of marriage hits him. This episode is incredibly important to fans of the show and ends on a massive cliffhanger where Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow) finds a pregnancy test in the bathroom and assumes Monica is pregnant! Let’s hope Swift’s wedding isn’t as dramatic.

  7. ‘The Wedding Singer’

Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore are one of comedy’s most dynamic duos. If you haven’t seen this iconic film, Robbie (Sandler) is a wedding singer who struggles to perform after being left at the altar. During his troubles, Robbie encounters the beguiling Julia (Drew Barrymore), who soon asks Robbie to play at her wedding. In your classic rom-com, Robbie falls in love with Julia and must confess his feelings before her actual wedding. The film also has a fantastic soundtrack that maybe Taylor Swift will feel compelled to add some songs to her wedding playlist.
