The Season 4 finale of MGM+ fan favorite From aired last month on the streamer. Thankfully, it looks like the network has found its newest hit: The gripping J.K. Simmons-led crime drama The Westies.

Also starring Titus Welliver, Tom Brittney, Stanley Morgan, Sarah Bolger, Jessica Frances Dukes, Hamish Allan-Headley, Vincent Walsh, Allen Leech, and Hillary McCormack, the series takes place in 1980s New York as the “infamously violent Irish gang” known as the Westies attempts to make money off of the Jacob Javits Convention Center. Per the official press release, “despite being outnumbered fifty-to-one by the Five Families of the Italian Mafia, the Westies’ legendary brutality and cunning have given them the leverage necessary to share the spoils through a fragile détente.”

The kinetic new series has a vibe similar to The Departed… with both projects using songs from the Dropkick Murphys to create an atmosphere of unpredictability and mayhem. I absolutely loved the pilot, and I can’t wait to see where the story goes over the show’s eight-episode season.
