2026 World Cup semifinal odds: Argentina is a longshot to repeat as champion

Four teams remain in the chase for World Cup glory.
The semifinals will take over Arlington, Texas and Atlanta, Georgia this week and oddsmakers have a clear idea of which teams will advance.
France has emerged as the favorite by a significant margin with +150 odds to win the World Cup ahead of Spain and England, who are both listed at +333 at bet365 sportsbook. Argentina has the longest odds among the top four teams with a +400 price tag entering the semis.
It’s an unsurprising board based on the pre-tournament odds.
Spain (+450), France (+500), and England (+600) were the top three options before the games began and Argentina (+800) was tied for the fourth-best odds in the field.
In one semifinal matchup, France takes on Spain. Les Bleus is a +130 favorite on the three-way moneyline with Spain listed at +225 and the draw also coming in at +225.
France has been buoyed by the spectacular play of Kylian Mbappe, who is tied with Lionel Messi for the most goals scored in this World Cup (8), is the odds-on favorite to finish as the top goalscorer (-120), and the favorite to win the Golden Ball (+150).
The French will have to topple a dominant Spain side that allowed its first goal in the World Cup against Belgium in the quarterfinals. They managed to win that match thanks to a thrilling goal from super sub Mikel Merino in the 88th minute.
Oddsmakers are skeptical that 2022 World Cup winner Argentina can get past the English as their international rivalry adds another chapter.
England enters its semifinal matchup as the +155 favorite on the three-way moneyline with Argentina and the draw both listed at +200.
Argentina has displayed a flair for dramatics, but has come out on the right side of it in the past three matches, while England has answered the bell against every challenge thanks to the strong play of Jude Bellingham.
They’ll need his best to knock out an Argentina side that won’t stay down regardless of the score.
