Cat-astrophe averted.

An adorable cat was rescued after being thrown from a moving car that was crossing a bridge between Maryland and Virginia, according to authorities.

A concerned witness reported spotting a person attempting to toss a feline from a moving car on the Woodrow Wilson Bridge on Sunday, according to the Prince George’s County Division of the Maryland-National Capital Park Police.

Police rushed to the scene and rescued the frightened orange furball without injury, cops said.

“Come on. I got you, baby. You can do it,” an officer told the meowing cat while trying to coax it from behind the railing of the bridge in a video posted by the department.

Photos also captured the tiny feline perched on the bridge spanning the Potomac River and wailing open-mouthed in an officer’s arms.

“We commend the citizen for speaking up and our officers for taking immediate action to protect a defenseless animal,” the police department said in a statement.

“Acts of animal cruelty are taken seriously, and we encourage anyone who witnesses abuse or neglect to report it immediately!”

The cat is now “receiving the care it deserves,” cops said.
