‘The Ring’ star Daveigh Chase left behind substantial estate worth 6 figures

Daveigh Chase had $400K in personal property, yet was living on the streets of Downtown Los Angeles at the time of her death.

The late actress, who starred in 2002’s “The Ring” and voiced the character Lilo in Disney’s 2002 hit “Lilo & Stitch,” died last month at just 35 years old. Her mother, Cathy Chase, said the late actress left behind $400K in personal property in court docs obtained by Page Six Monday.

Cathy is asking the court to appoint her as the administrator of Daveigh’s estate.

According to the docs, Cathy believes Daveigh’s father, John Schwallier, “resides in the Philippines with an unknown address” but also “keeps properties” in Las Vegas.

Daveigh’s primary cause of death is listed as acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) in the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner report obtained by Page Six last month.

Also listed is chronic polysubstance use, which is the use of more than one drug in a short period of time, according to the Cleveland Clinic.

The former child star had no children and was never married. But her alleged boyfriend, Roy Hernandez, created a GoFundMe campaign to help her “find comfort and peace” in her final days before her death.

“Daveigh Chase, my girlfriend, has always been a light in my life. Many people know her as a talented childhood actor from ‘Lilo & Stitch,’ ‘Spirited Away,’ and ‘Donnie Darko.’ But behind the scenes, she’s faced more than her share of hardship,” Hernandez shared in the online campaign.

“After a difficult childhood and a painful falling out with her family, Daveigh was bullied and struggled to find safety and happiness in downtown LA. When we met, I promised to protect her and give her the love and comfort she deserved. Together, we found moments of happiness and hope.”

But Daveigh’s former manager, John Ryan, later urged fans not to donate to Hernandez’s GoFundMe after it went viral.

“Apparently, a man claiming to be her ‘boyfriend’ that none of us friends or her family has heard of has set up a GoFundMe on ‘her and her families behalf’ that he set her up as the organizer,” Ryan told The Post.

“I can confirm Daveigh has a trust account set up at SAG to cover all costs,” he added.

Ryan, who managed the late actress for more than a decade, also claimed she had “millions” in unclaimed residual checks at the time of her death.

Despite apparently leaving behind $400K in private property and “millions” in unclaimed residual checks, as her former manager, John Ryan, claimed, Daveigh was seen looking extremely skinny and barely conscious living on the streets of Los Angeles’ notorious skid row in video obtained by The Post last month (a still of which is seen above). In a disturbing clip obtained exclusively by The Post last month, Daveigh can be seen looking extremely skinny and barely conscious on the floor of a tent or trailer in LA’s notorious skid row.

Ryan told the outlet that he and her stepsister Gaia Brown had enlisted the help of a private investigator in 2025 to track her down and get her some help, but after he was able to speak to Daveigh on the phone, she “disappeared” again.

“We were so close to finding her,” he told The Post. “Daveigh was the sweetest and brightest light in Hollywood. I can’t believe this is real. Her legacy and work will live on forever.”
