McDonald’s adds new Caesar sauce to its menu — but customers are split over decision

McDonald’s revealed it’s adding a Caesar sauce to its menu for the first time, but the launch has sparked mixed reactions from customers.

The fast food giant introduced the Caesar sauce offering — described as “a creamy, garlicky parmesan blend infused with notes of lemon” — as part of three new additions that’ll hit stores on July 21, the company announced on Tuesday.

The sauce will be available on the Caesar Snack Wrap, made with a McCrispy Strip, shredded cheese and shredded lettuce wrapped in a tortilla.

The Bacon Caesar McCrispy will also get the new addition, with a McCrispy filet topped with bacon, shredded lettuce, Roma tomatoes, onions and crinkle-cut pickles on a toasted potato roll.

Fans can also pair the condiment with McCrispy Strips, which debuted in May and come with a new, “even crispier” panko-coated breading.

McDonald’s teased the release on Instagram, where followers quickly filled the comments with excitement.

“A thousand wows. Didn’t know how much I needed this Caesar wrap til right now,” one person wrote.

“I spent 20 years working at McDonald’s begging for this,” another added.

But the announcement also sparked renewed calls for McDonald’s to bring back its Caesar salads, which were removed from menus in 2020.

McDonald’s salads got the axe as the chain streamlined its menu during the COVID-19 pandemic, when labor shortages and supply issues pushed restaurants to focus on their biggest sellers.

The move also came after a 2018 cyclospora outbreak linked to McDonald’s salads sickened hundreds of people, prompting the chain to pull the salad mix from affected restaurants and switch suppliers.

“To put on what?! Salads still aren’t back 🙄😒,” one customer wrote in response to the new Caesar sauce.

“BRING BACK THE SALADS NOWWWWW,” another demanded.

Others reminisced about McSalad Shakers, the salads served in a to-go cup from the early 2000s, which included a Grilled Chicken Caesar option.

“Just bring the shakable salads cups please 🙏 🙌,” one fan wrote.

The Caesar sauce is the latest addition to McDonald’s menu.

The chain brought back its Fried Apple Pie for a limited run on June 23, decades after replacing it with the Baked Apple Pie in the 1990s.

Last month, McDonald’s also revived its Big Mac Sauce, serving it with specialty fries and nuggets in a gold cup as part of its World Cup 2026 promotions.
