Fast-moving LA wildfire torches home, threatens nearby properties

A fast-moving brush fire tore through the Eagle Rock neighborhood of Los Angeles Thursday afternoon, torching at least one home and forcing firefighters into an aggressive battle to keep the flames from reaching more houses.
The blaze erupted shortly after 2 p.m. on Thursday, near the 2 Freeway and Colorado Boulevard.
The fire had burned about 1 acre and was pushing uphill toward Palmer Drive with other homes in its path.
At least residence caught fire as crews worked to contain the advancing flames, FOX 11 reported.
Officials shut down at least one lane of the 2 Freeway below the fire area.
The Los Angeles Fire Department announced that the fire’s forward progress was stopped at approximately 3 p.m., allowing crews to transition to full containment.
