‘The McBee Dynasty’ Star Steven McBee Jr. Says Season 3 Is “Bittersweet To Watch Back”: “I Thought I’d Found The Person I Was Going To Be With Forever”

The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys star Steven McBee Jr. has been on quite a journey the past couple of years. While his father, Steve McBee Sr., is currently serving a 24-month sentence after pleading guilty to crop insurance fraud, Steven and his brothers—Jesse, Cole and Brayden—have been tasked with running the family’s business(es) and dealing with all the complications and responsibilities that come with it.

While the two are no longer together, Steven found himself in a whirlwind romance this season with entrepreneur and content creator Allie Eklund. When asked about this chapter of his life, Steven admits it is “very bittersweet” to watch back. “At the time, I was very, very happy. I thought I’d found the person I was going to be with forever.” Despite their very messy public breakup, Steven wishes only the best the best for his ex. “I still think the world of her and her family,” said Steven earnestly.

Prior to his relationship with Eklund, Steven reveals he “did a lot of work: to become more at ease with himself. He adds: “I’ve really come to an internal peace.” However, Steven doesn’t feel the need to jump back into a relationship. “I don’t need anyone else to find fulfillment,” said Steven. “I would love to be with someone who enjoys my lifestyle, but that is not a requirement for me right now.”

McBee stopped by the Decider studio to briefly discuss the new season, share about the work he’s done on himself, and dish on the latest argument between his dad’s ex, Galyna Saltkovska, and his dad’s current girlfriend, Masha Petrova.

DECIDER: Steven, we imagine this might be a tough season for you to watch back for numerous reasons. How do you look back at this chapter of your life?

STEVEN MCBEE JR.: I’m grateful for it, but it is very bittersweet to watch it back. Obviously, hindsight is 20/20. You know, it’s a tough watch because at the time, I was very, very happy. I thought I’d found the person I was going to be with forever. I still think the world of her and her family. I absolutely adore her family.

When we spoke to your brother Cole, he said you are “in the best mental headspace [you’ve] ever been in .” Can you talk about the work you’ve put into yourself?

Yeah, I already did a lot of work on myself prior to anything happening between Allie and me. Obviously, I’ve taken additional steps since then. I’ve really come to an internal peace. I know what I like to do; I know how I like to spend my life. I feel happy with myself and what I’m doing with my family. I don’t need anyone else to find fulfillment. I would love to be with someone who enjoys my lifestyle, but that is not a requirement for me right now. I’m pouring myself into my family and the businesses.

Last week’s episode featured a very candid chat between you and your soon-to-be sister-in-law Kacie Adkison about the tallow business. She seemed really surprised by your percentage breakdown. Is there anything you would change about that conversation today?

For sure. I would go about the conversation a lot more respectfully. Because of my prior business experience, I feel like I came across a little bit prideful or arrogant. I did not mean to do that. I wish I had been a bit more humble and more open to her suggestions.

Can you promise us here and now you will never offer to give a girlfriend of yours a 20% stake in any part of your business again?

I absolutely promise you that will not be happening ever again.

A lot has been said about your “dream girl” list! However, we applaud you for being so open about what you are looking for in a partner. Have you added or subtracted anything from that list recently?

Yes, the blonde hair [laughs]. I’m open to any hair color. I think that was a little bit too niche. Also, that whole dream wife list…I think a lot of people thought that I require a hard set list of rules. It was more of a manifestation. Like, “hey, what is your dream life? What does your perfect day look like? What does you perfect wife look like if you could draw this up picture perfect?” It is very similar to setting your five-year goals. That’s all that was.

I can’t let you go without asking about the Russians. Galyna’s and Masha’s feud seems as intense as ever . Is it possible for them to co-exist? How difficult is it for the family to navigate the conflict?

No, it is not possible for them to co-exist [laughs]. We were just laughing about it because they’re still getting in fights. You have to go through a third-party mediator to coordinate who gets to visit my dad on what the weekends. There was a weekend where both Masha and Galyna showed up at prison to visit. We thought both of them were going to end up in prison themselves [laughs]. So yeah, there is no way for them co-exist.

Lastly, what can you tease about what we’re going to see the rest of the season?

There is so much more coming down the line. We’re just getting started. I am so excited to see the rest of this season because there’s a bunch of surprises ahead. There’s one really big trip that I’m excited to see play out.
