A new season of Netflix‘s hit Western drama, Ransom Canyon, means new cast members and characters to shake things up in the Texas town. And it also means we’re finally getting answers to that massive Season 1 cliffhanger.

For those who need a refresher, Season 1 of Ransom Canyon ended with the big reveal that Yancy’s (Jack Schumacher) wife — yeah, WIFE! — had unexpectedly come to town. But the end credits rolled before we saw her face or learned their whole deal. So Season 2 helps us fill in the blanks…

Ransom Canyon’s sophomore season also picks up six months after Season 1’s finale, and it turns out, Yancy’s wife, Sidney, is still in Ransom Canyon! Uh oh!

Who Is Sidney On Ransom Canyon? Meet Yancy’s Wife

As noted, Sidney is Yancy’s long-lost wife, who we learn has been living with Yancy for the past six months. Ransom Canyon Season 2, Episode 1 also reveals that Ellie is uncomfortable with the dynamic and thinks that Sidney wants Yancy back, which she absolutely does.

With tensions rising, Yancy tells Ellie that he’s been patient and slept in the guest room for the past six months, so she needs to leave. And when Sidney refuses, again, Ellie suggests they tell her she’s pregnant so she’ll let them live their lives. “I’ve told you, she’s a con artist; if she gets any crumb of her, she’ll use it against us,” Yancy reminds Ellie.

At Quinn’s welcome home party, Ellie tries to make a move on Yancy and admits, “I want you. I miss us. You and me against the world playing cons.” When he tells her he left that life behind, she says, “You’re so goddamn good at grifting that you’re grifting yourself.” For a moment it seems like Sidney took the hint and decided to pack her bags, but when she spots Yancy touching Ellie’s stomach, she gets angry and decides to make Yancy’s life difficult a bit longer. Before the premiere wraps, Sidney toasts, “To our divorce, and you being a father.” While we won’t spoil what Ransom Canyon has in store for Sidney this season, we will say we’re be seeing a lot more of her.

Sidney on Ransom Canyon is played by Heidi Grace Engerman, a talented actor with nearly 10 TV and film credits on IMDb. Before his role in the Netflix drama, Engerman got her start on Candyman in 2021 and has since starred in projects like Power Book IV: Force, Chicago Fire, The Bold and the Beautiful, and most recently 9-1-1: Nashville.
