San Francisco 49ers rookie defensive end Romello Height created a frightening scene at Monday’s practice when he was carted off the field.

According to NBC Sports Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco, medical staff appeared to examine Height’s right leg and both arms before lifting him onto the cart. Practice was ended prematurely shortly afterward, increasing concern before the team surprisingly announced he was dealing with cramps.

The 49ers, who have dealt with a rash of injuries in recent years, are already managing a setback involving Christian Kirk. The receiver’s first training camp practice with San Francisco ended Sunday after he suffered a calf strain and left with a trainer.

Maiocco reported Kirk would miss Monday’s session.

Kirk joined the 49ers after catching 28 passes for 239 yards and one touchdown in 13 regular-season games for Houston last year. He added 10 receptions for 164 yards and two scores in the playoffs.

Vederian Lowe has a high-ankle sprain, while Gracen Halton and Andrew Farmer II remain sidelined.
