Patrons along one of the Gold Coast’s most loved dining strips got a real eyeful on Friday night when a group of nude men came streaking past.

The dozen or so men were seen spilling out of a utility vehicle on the corner of Breaker Street, in Main Beach, in nothing but their birthday suits.

They were heard shouting, “go, go!” as they raced buck naked into the night.

Braving the chilly 11 (52F) degrees, they sprinted all the way down Tedder Avenue – which is lined with chic restaurants – and back again.

“What the hell are they doing?” a person who captured the moment of insanity from a balcony is heard saying.

“They’re nudie running!”

“Everyone was standing up in the restaurant having a look,” a witness told Nine News. “The most action Main Beach has ever seen!”

Another speculated they must have been on a bucks night (bachelor party).

Queensland Police are aware of the incident but said on Monday they had yet to receive a criminal complaint.

Wilful exposure carries a fine of about $345 ($242 USD) in Queensland, while public nuisance can see offenders charged just over $500 ($350 USD) if their actions cause members of the public distress.

Acting Chief Superintendent Brett Jackson said police would investigate if it “comes into our knowledge that something has occurred and caused distress to someone”.

“That behaviour isn’t what we want to see on the Gold Coast and it won’t be tolerated.”

He added that as the Gold Coast is a popular tourist destination, “there’s a likelihood that there will be families about and we might have young children that see something that… their parents wouldn’t want them to see.”
