‘High Potential’ Season 3 Release Date Update: When Does The New Season of ‘High Potential’ Come Out?

Have you come down with a debilitating case of the rerun blues? Don’t worry; Decider has the cure!

We’re currently obsessed with the J.K. Simmons-led crime drama The Westies on MGM+; Liz Meriwether’s new critically acclaimed series Furious on Hulu; and are obviously excited for the new seasons of Taylor Sheridan’s Lioness (Paramount+), Reacher (Prime Video), and Doc (FOX). But what about our old pal High Potential?

It’s a bit of a good news/bad news situation. The Kaitlin Olson-led fan favorite has been renewed for a third season, but, unfortunately, High Potential isn’t included in ABC’s fall schedule. Okay, so we know that there’ll be a Season 3, but when exactly do new episodes premiere on ABC and Hulu?

Here’s everything we know.

Is High Potential New Tonight (July 28)?

Sadly… no. ABC’s primetime schedule tonight consists of reruns tonight. RJ Decker kicks off the night at 8:00 p.m. ET, followed by back-to-back repeats of Will Trent from 9:00-11:00 p.m. ET.

Will There Be a High Potential Season 3?

You know it. Back in March, ABC renewed High Potential for a third season. It was also revealed that the beloved series would have new showrunners, Nora and Lilla Zuckerman (Poker Face), with Todd Harthan leaving to work on a live-action adaptation of the YA book series The Inheritance Cycle.

When Does High Potential Season 3 Premiere on ABC?

It was revealed at the Disney Upfront event that three ABC staples, High Potential, Will Trent, and The Rookie, will be held for midseason premieres. Sadly, that means that all three shows won’t be back with new episodes for the fall 2026 season.

Official release dates have yet to be announced, but all three programs will return in early 2027, with our best guess centering on the beginning of January. High Potential and Will Trent will most likely air on Tuesdays, with The Rookie and the upcoming spinoff The Rookie: North going back-to-back on Mondays.

Will Steve Howey Be Back For High Potential Season 3?

After the events of the season finale, it was announced that Steve Howey would not be returning as a series regular for Season 3. Deadline reports that Howey could potentially be back as a “guest star at the start of next season to wrap his character’s arc.”
