Spot the difference

vs. 

“On the advice of counsel, I respectfully decline to answer based upon my rights under the Fifth Amendment.” — Fauci, Wednesday

We say: Fauci took the Fifth to avoid self-incrimination over and over in response to lawmakers’ questions on COVID, though a presidential pardon shields him from prosecution and the questions concerned key decisions during the worst health crisis in a century.

Nothing to hide? Ha! He disproved that 111 times. 

This promise

“Our five city-run grocery stores will set prices . . . at 30% below typical retail prices.” — Mayor Mamdani, Monday

We say: Please. Those stores won’t open for years (if ever).

And if they do, they’ll enjoy humongous subsidies paid for by city taxpayers — making them, as Jonathan Turley points out, “the most expensive groceries in the city.” That is, until supplies run out.

This excuse

“I [don’t turn] over private, identifying information of the citizens of New Jersey.” — NJ Gov. Mikie Sherrill, Wednesday

We say: The feds seek data on 6,600 non-citizens who registered to vote in the Garden State (including 400 who did vote), but in vowing to never comply, Sherrill referred to them as “citizens.”

Memo to Sherrill: Your state is part of the US, not its own nation — and Washington oversees immigration policy.  

This insinuation

“After decades of . . . covering for Jeffrey Epstein, the British and American governments seemed to have lost interest in prosecuting sex crimes, [until]  the Tate brothers criticized Israel.” — Tucker Carlson in The New York Times, July 23

We say: Most obviously, if law enforcement were cracking down on people who criticize Israel, they’d be targeting much of the US population.

Then again, Carlson seems to think the CIA reads his text messages, the 2021 Capitol riot was a “false-flag” operation and Israel may have had Charlie Kirk killed.
