Geno Smith has perfect day has rookie QB fades late at Jets camp

Observations from Jets training camp Saturday.

Having a day

Geno Smith had a day.

The veteran quarterback did not have an incompletion during team or 7-on-7 drills.

He went 11-for-11 in team drills with four touchdowns, during a red-zone-heavy day.

Smith threw some beautiful passes and showed chemistry with Garrett Wilson.

Late struggles

Rookie quarterback Cade Klubnik started strong but faded at the end of practice and threw two interceptions.

One came in team drills with Qwan’tez Stiggers picking him off and then Marcelino McCrary-Ball got him in 7-on-7 drills.

Caught my eye

Right tackle Armand Membou may have heard all the praise being heaped on rookie edge rusher David Bailey on Thursday because Membou dominated him on Saturday.

He largely kept Bailey out of the backfield and stopped him cold on a few plays.

Medical Report

NT T’Vondre Sweat (hamstring), DT Mazi Smith (hamstring)  and edge Joseph Ossai (undisclosed) worked on a side field during practice.

CB D’Angelo Ponds (calf) did not practice again.
