Night 1 is in the books and WWE has quite the SummerSlam encore ready.

Roman Reigns gets a chance to finally exorcise his Seth Rollins demons at U.S. Bank Stadium on Sunday. We will have a new interim WWE Women’s champion and fresh No. 1 contender for the Undisputed WWE championship along with Danhausen competing in a “Human Monies on a Pole” match in 2026.

The Post’s pro wrestling columnist Joseph Staszewski tries his best to predict how it will all play out in Minneapolis.

Danhausen vs. “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio in a Human Monies on a Pole Match

WWE is all-in on Danhausen and using him to help build up Joe Hendry, even if their concert on Raw missed the mark. The Human Monies on Pole stipulation is right out of the Vince Russo playbook but makes some sense in this situation after Judgment Day claims Danhausen stole $100,000 from them after they asked him to curse Oba Femi during the King of the Ring tournament. WWE will want to keep the good vibes around Danhausen, who will not have to pin Mysterio, the AAA Mega champion, to win. Hendry and the Minihausens help thwart Judgment Day to allow Danhausen to claim victory.

Finn Bálor vs. Sami Zayn in a No. 1 Contender’s Match for the Undisputed WWE Championship

Finn Balor has been on a quest for months to claim his first world championship in 10 years and has been unbeaten since joining SmackDown. Zayn needs even more reason to crash out, and a loss of this magnitude will do it. He would be out of a clear chance to be WWE champion again. Balor will keep his push rolling into a match with either CM Punk or Cody Rhodes.

Penta (c) vs. Chad Gable for the Intercontinental Championship

There is no better time or place to give Chad Gable, a Minneapolis native, his first singles championship in WWE. Gable is as over as he’s ever been with the audience after his work as the Original El Grande Americano. He already has one match of the year candidate and these two could steal the show.

WWE hasn’t done much of any substance with Penta during this reign. He’s defended it eight times on television, mostly against random challengers since dethroning Dominik Mysterio. It would be fitting for Gable’s story to beat a luchador in his hometown to a big pop.

Tiffany Stratton vs. Jade Cargill vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Chelsea Green vs. Giulia/Lash Legend for the Interim WWE Women’s Championship (Ladder Match)

The fact that the WWE is actually doing an “interim” champion makes you think Rhea Ripley will be back soon from her injury. So it makes this match about two people: Jade Cargill and Charlotte Flair. They were already involved in a storyline with Ripley and likely headed to their first one-on-one clash before the injury.

Flair winning No. 15 this way would probably not be taken well, as it would feel like just another championship win and a slightly cold one at that. The money here is Cargill swooping in late — maybe with help from Michin and B-Fab to steal the title from Flair so The Queen is now chasing a major heel for the first time in her career. Ripley could easily join back in when ready. Having Chelsea Green win would be quite fun, however.

Trick Williams (c) vs. Baron Corbin for the United States Championship

If WWE is ever going to turn Trick Williams babyface, here is its chance. Corbin just returned after nearly two years out of WWE and a loss here feels like it would do significant damage to his credibility as a gritty no-nonsense veteran who can deliver a reality check to someone flying as high as Williams. Yes, Williams can win and then take a beatdown from Corbin. But that’s far less effective than handing him a loss and allowing the former NXT champion to chase Corbin or maybe watch Carmel Hayes beat him first.

Roman Reigns (c) vs. Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship

Seth Rollins having Roman Reigns’ number needs to end at some point and it should be here. WWE can’t give us another non-finish or DQ like the last time these two met at Royal Rumble 2022. It’s been 12 years since Rollins put the chair to Reigns’ back and broke up The Shield. Both men need to move past this, especially Reigns, and he will here. 

The money for WWE is in keeping the World Heavyweight championship around the Tribal Chief’s waist, as he has already been announced for the Money in the Bank show. These two will probably give us a classic as they don’t know how many more times they will get to do this dance. The scoreboard would tip way too much to Rollins if he won.

The finish needs to center around Reigns and the use of the chair. He needs to finally let go of all the pain Rollins caused him that has been his Achilles’ heel for so long. Reigns needs to finally resist the Visionary’s mind game and beat him in a championship match for the first time. Maybe we even get a moment of respect and a handshake when it’s over, to create a new dynamic between them moving forward.
