Cubs acquiring Kevin Gausman from Blue Jays as they bolster rotation at trade deadline
August 3, 2026

The Cubs have added right-hander Kevin Gausman in a trade with the Blue Jays, The Post’s Jon Heyman confirmed.
The deal broke shortly after 9 p.m. and less than 24 hours before the MLB trade deadline arrives.
The Cubs, as part of the deal, will send outfielder Brett Bateman and infielder Ty Southisene to Toronto for the veteran starter, The Athletic reported.
The move adds another arm to the Cubs’ rotation that has playoff experience and a 4.38 ERA in 23 starts this season.
