Los Angeles Rams superstar wide receiver Puka Nacua is about to enter the final year of his four-year, $4.08 million rookie contract.

He’s eligible to sign a contract extension this offseason, but there hasn’t been any indication that Nacua’s team and the Rams are particularly close on making a new deal happen.

But that might change, now that Nacua has a different team around him.

“I changed agencies,” Nacua told reporters on Wednesday, per The California Post’s Michael Duarte.

“And I think it was something for me, looking at the offseason, and where I feel like I’ve been at in this past year. Just trying to reset, and be able to refocus and reprioritize some of the things that I feel like are best for me. And I’m just grateful to feel like I have a team supporting me in all facets,” he added.

Nacua has hired Win Sports Group to represent him moving forward, seemingly in hopes of signing a contract extension with Los Angeles sooner rather than later.

The prominent agency has already had an extremely successful offseason, as star Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Ravens wideout Zay Flowers—both of whom are also signed to Win Sports Group—have signed lucrative deals in recent weeks.

Smith-Njigba’s deal is for four years and $168.6 million ($120 million) guaranteed and Flowers signed a four-year, $140 million deal with $108 million guaranteed on Tuesday.

Given that Nacua was in the same draft class as Smith-Njigba and has arguably produced a better overall career to this point, that $168.6 million deal seems like a fair target for Nacua and his new agents to pursue as they seek a new deal with the Rams.

Regardless, this fresh coat of paint should spark optimism among Rams fans that they can re-sign Nacua soon.
