Jackie, the beloved Big Bear bald eagle whose nest captivated millions online, has died.

The eagle passed away early Monday morning after a lengthy battle with anemia.

Jackie received intensive treatment from a veterinary team at the Ojai Raptor Center after she was found in rough shape in the wilderness.

Her condition continued to deteriorate over several days despite intensive treatment and consultations with specialists.

She remained critically ill in the intensive care unit, where she received oxygen, supportive care and around-the-clock monitoring.

“Throughout her time at Ojai Raptor Center, every decision was guided by the available medical evidence, her welfare, and our responsibility to do what was in her best interest,” read a post on Instagram from the center.

A video floating around captured by a local wildlife observer showed Jackie getting attacked by two other juvenile eagles shortly before her initial hospitalization. It’s unclear if she was already ill before the attack.
