“CHICAGO!!! You sure know how to make a guy feel welcome,” Brooks, 64, shared via Instagram.
“The response has been OVERWHELMING…Thank you, Chicago, for showing up in a BIG way!!!love, g.”
A press release describes these upcoming shows as “a full-scale return to featuring the return of the iconic drum pod [from Brooks;’ 1996 arena tour] and the production that changed live music forever.”
Ahead of the tour, the iconic country crooner headlined at London’s annual Big Summer Time at Hyde Park — the biggest in BST history — this past June.
Based on our findings at Set List FM, he took 19 songs to the stage that day. Fan favorites included “The Dance,” “The Thunder Rolls,” “Unanswered Prayers,” “If Tomorrow Never Comes” and, of course, “Friends in Low Places.”
He also unveiled covers of Billy Joel, Isley Brothers, Bob Seger, Eric Clapton and The Oak Ridge Boys classic tracks.
And it was a bit emotional.
“When he performs ‘Unanswered Prayers’ solo and the crowd sing it for him, [Brooks] starts to cry – not sparkling, joyful showbiz tears, for his face does momentarily crumple like someone truly overcome,” The Guardian noted in a four-star review.
We can’t wait to see what emotion he brings to the stage in Chicago.
