A family in California had an unwanted guest in their garage they didn’t know about until food started disappearing from their refrigerator.

The homeowners in Manhattan Beach started noticing items were being stolen but had no explanation as to where they were going. They later called Manhattan Beach Police Department to investigate.

When the cops arrived at their home, they discovered something that the family had not expected in their wildest dreams –– they had a creepy “surprise guest in the garage.”

“Food was disappearing from a refrigerator inside a Manhattan Beach residence’s garage. The reporting party had no idea why, until officers arrived and discovered a subject living inside the garage, and ultimately arrested him,” the Manhattan Beach Police Department said in a social media post.

Authorities warned that residents must keep their garages secured and stay aware of anything unusual around your property.

While the police arrested the illegal squatter, they didn’t reveal details about the duration of his stay or his identity.

In a photo shared by the police on social media, the suspect can be seen with his hands cuffed behind his back. Netizens were quick to chime in with their views and suggestions about the bizarre incident.

“The homeowner should consider putting a security camera inside their garage,” an Instagram user commented.

Another user noted, “The home owner didn’t know a dude was living in garage? It took the police to discover a person living there? How big is the garage?”

The charges against the suspect are presently unknown.
