The Issue: Progressives distance themselves from unhinged “woke” comments made in 2020.

The new left-wing mantra of a supposed shift from “Woke 1” to “Woke 2” is laughable: Nothing is changing in the overall goal to radicalize the Democratic Party and ultimately foist their agenda on the rest of the country (“Woke 2 Is Woke 1,” Editorial, Aug. 11).

Wiping away outlandish social-media posts by sending them to “memory holes” while switching to softer language to convey the same ideas is the new model.

Some may buy it, but I think most intelligent voters will recognize that Woke 2 is just Woke 1 wearing a different suit.

The Democratic Party is a big tent alright — a carnival tent, and the freaks are the main attraction: woke freaks, abolish ICE freaks and no-police-no-prison freaks.

And where are the adults?

They are busy emulating the freaks.

Barack Obama is pals with Abdul El-Sayed, as are AOC, Gruesome Gavin Newsom and Hamas’ Hasan Piker.

The Clintons are AWOL and leaders Sen. Chuck Schumer and Rep. Hakeem Jeffries are changing their diapers.

Woke 2?

It’s the same as Woke 1, but with free eats as well.

Democrats are nominating socialist radicals as a response to President Trump’s policies and his unpopular war in Iran.

This will continue until Republicans have the guts to get rid of Trump et al.

He did exactly what he said he wasn’t going to do and this is a result of his incompetence.

Dems are so terrified of Trump, they will hand their own party over to communists.

The Issue: Gov. Hochul distancing herself from Mayor Mamdani’s pied-à-terre tax.

Gov. Hochul’s attempt to distance herself from New York City’s proposed pied-à-terre tax deserves scrutiny (“Kat turns tail on pied-a-terre,” Aug. 12).

This follows a familiar pattern: poorly conceived policy, public backlash — then a rebranding effort.

From bail reform to congestion pricing, Hochul has too often marketed reversals and failures as achievements.

Her earlier message that New Yorkers unhappy with conditions should leave the state was also tone-deaf — especially when declining revenues later made retaining residents and taxpayers urgent.

Her defining accomplishment has been allowing state spending to grow faster than inflation, revenues and many taxpayers’ incomes.

Rep. Ritchie Torres refers to Hochul as “the new Joe Biden” but the phrase “a genius in the art of being wrong” seems more fitting.

I keep hearing Democrats like Hochul say, “pay your fair share.”

No one can explain to me what your fair share is. What is the amount?

They want every person receiving social benefits to believe the rich are evil.

Meanwhile, we have a mayor who was born with a silver spoon in his mouth saying he’s fighting for you.

Truth be told, he’s only fighting for his power.
