Driver killed after car erupts in flames in crash in Griffith Park
A driver was killed early Thursday after a car erupted into flames in a fiery crash in Griffith Park, authorities said.
The single-vehicle wreck was reported around 2:24 a.m. on Forest Lawn Drive, just south of the 134 Freeway, the LAPD confirmed to the California Post.
Firefighters quickly knocked down the blaze, which also caught a nearby tree on fire and damaged a traffic signal.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers, including an LAPD helicopter crew, searched the area for anyone who may have been thrown from the vehicle but found no additional victims.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
