Copper bracelets don’t actually help with joint pain, but this heating pad does — now 10% off

The idea that a mere bracelet can help with joint pain sounds too outlandish to be true — and it is.

Copper bracelets are everywhere on social media right now, as users believe them to be a way to alleviate arthritis symptoms.

One video that garnered over 1.3 million views shows a 72-year-old man with copper bracelets wrapped around each ankle. TikTok users agreed with his methods, with one claiming, “My grandpa swore by his for arthritis.”

Unfortunately, the trend is little more than a myth.

“Studies in both common wear-and-tear arthritis and autoimmune arthritis show they don’t improve pain, stiffness, swelling, or function any better than a placebo,” rheumatologist Dr. Alexis Barbut confirmed to the Post. “People wear them because of the belief that copper can be absorbed through the skin and calm inflammation, but very little copper is actually absorbed, nowhere near enough to reach an arthritic joint or have a meaningful effect.”

In fact, wearing copper bracelets actually may do more harm than good.

“They can cause skin reactions like contact dermatitis or hives, but the greatest risk is delaying real treatment, especially in rheumatoid arthritis, where treating early can prevent permanent joint damage and missing that window can matter,” said Dr. Barbut.

While taking medications prescribed by your rheumatologist for arthritis takes priority, there are other at-home remedies that may alleviate systems in the meantime.

“A heating pad can help because it delivers actual therapeutic heat to the tissues,” said rheumatologist Dr. Sahana Baliga. “The warmth can temporarily relax muscles and surrounding soft tissues, ease pain and stiffness, and improve flexibility and joint mobility. This can make movement and exercise easier, which are important parts of arthritis management.”

Although a heating pad is not a cure or substitute for a doctor’s treatment plan, it can certainly help with symptomatic relief.

Luckily, the UTK Far Infrared Heating Pad for Back Pain Relief is on sale for under $90 right now and provides benefits far and beyond similar products on the market.

This heating pad is equipped with advanced far infrared technology, meaning it targets even the hardest-to-reach spot on your back, waist, abdomen, butt and thighs. The heat reaches up to 159 °F and will penetrate deep into the skin, boost blood circulation and ease joint pain.

It uniquely contains 20 natural, built-in jade stones with negative ions released upon heating. This, in turn, may kickstart your metabolism, improve mood and even promote better sleep.

A smart remote control allows you to easily adjust temperature and choose from 16 timer modes (although the brand recommends 30 minutes of heating time).

Amazon shoppers love the heating pad and claim it helps with soreness.

“So, I have had this for two years now and I use it nightly, often for hours on end due to having chronic pain,” one buyer wrote. “My favorite part about this heating pad is that it is zero EMF [electromagnetic fields]. Because I use this heating pad as often as I do, it was important to me to have something with lower EMF.”

Another added, “Great for arthritic pain and stiffness. Heats up quickly, temperature is adjustable, the stones and three adjustable vibrating mode makes it feel like a mini massage for as long as you choose.”

If your muscles and joints are aching for relief, think twice next time you reach for a copper bracelet. The UTK Far Infrared Heating Pad for Back Pain Relief is 10% now, and your body will most certainly thank you.
