The real reason Nikki Glaser abruptly fired her agents — and how it involved Kim Kardashian
Golden Globes host Nikki Glaser abruptly fired her agents at UTA and jumped ship for WME because she was inspired by recent co-star Kim Kardashian, sources tell Page Six Hollywood.
Glaser appears with Kardashian in the upcoming Netflix film, “The Fifth Wheel,” directed by Eva Longoria. The film, which Kardashian also produced, follows a group of high school besties who “attempt to reconnect during a weekend haunt to Vegas,” according to the logline. And sources say the Kardashian bond also moved Glaser off-camera, too.
Kardashian is repped by WME, and, “Nikki was enamoured with Kim,” said a source familiar with the comic.
Glaser has previously said she’s a huge fan of Kardashian, and that the duo bonded on the set — with Kardashian even becoming a trusted life advisor.
“It was so much fun… she is incredible,” the comic, 42, told Us Weekly earlier this year at the 2026 Time100 Gala of working with the reality star and SKIMS mogul. “I have been a fan of [her] show for a while, so I felt like I knew her.”
Glaser added of Kardashian: “She was always someone I was like, ‘I think I would like to get to know her.’ She just gives great advice.” And, “She gave me some, like, insane life advice that literally changed my life. It was just a really hard life decision I was making, and she just had a perspective on it that really no one else could have offered me besides her. It helped me have the strength to do something that I was scared to do.”
Glaser also said of the pop culture icon, “She’s a really good friend… you know, you wrap these movies and you, kind of, go in separate directions, but me and that cast, we’re still chatting all the time and keeping up with each other. I really love her a lot. I’m really happy to say she’s as awesome as I wanted her to be.”
Page Six Hollywood previously reported that Glaser fired UTA “without warning,” which blindsided the agency, as well as members of Glaser’s own team, multiple sources said. “Nobody can figure it out,” said a surprised source. Another added, “Crazy considering what UTA built for her the last five years.”
A source tells us that Glaser made the call to fire UTA “with no heads up” last week, about an hour before she was going on stage for a show in Winnipeg, at the Canadian town’s Centennial Concert Hall on her current hit “The Stunning Tour.”
Glaser’s PR rep did not comment when we reached out.
Kardashian also recently sold the series “Calabasas” to Netflix as an executive producer with Emma Roberts, and starred in Ryan Murphy‘s legal drama, “All’s Fair,” on Hulu.
UTA signed Glaser in 2018, and, “Turned her from a respected comedian into a mainstream cultural force,” a source previously told P6H.
Glaser is now one of the highest-grossing live touring comedians, and has headlined the Globes twice as the show’s only solo female host and will return to the gig in 2027. She’s also made major headlines for emceeing the raunchy “Roast of Tom Brady” in 2024, and her last comedy special has three 2026 Emmy nominations, (plus Glaser’s got another Emmy nom as the host of the Globes). With UTA, Glaser booked numerous TV and film projects, too, including “The Fifth Wheel” and a Netflix animated feature “Steps,” plus a pitch to Paramount and a rom-com at Universal with Judd Apatow.
Ironically, she’s so busy that sources alleged WME may have to wait to work with her.
A comedy source said that when her new agents had a call this week with Glaser’s existing team — they were surprised by just how booked up she is. And they won’t be collecting commissions on her latest tour, which kicked off June 1.
One source said that Glaser’s current tour is part of a $50 million deal with promoter Outback Presents. The tour kicked off June 1 in Paris and will run through Dec 2 with a show at Boston’s MGM Music Hall at Fenway. We hear that further dates could be announced.
A showbiz veteran said of Glaser’s UTA defection, “In the past two years they delivered breakthrough opportunities that took her from a touring comedian to mainstream entertainment.”
WME is now repping Glaser in all areas, including motion pictures, scripted and unscripted TV, lit, digital content, podcasting, branded ventures, lifestyle partnerships, music and consumer biz, plus touring — suggesting she may want to pursue areas where Kardashian has succeeded.
Then again, she may need to also befriend momager Kris Jenner for that!
