Tyler Glasnow will rejoin the Dodgers’ rotation after making one more start in the minor leagues, manager Dave Roberts said on Saturday.

Glasnow, who hasn’t pitched in a major league game since May 6, retired 11 of 13 batters he faced on Friday night in a start for the Dodgers’ triple-A affiliate in Oklahoma City.

The start was Glasnow’s third in a minor-league rehabilitation assignment.

“It was a good one yesterday,” Roberts said. “I think our thought is going to do another one, five (innings) and 75 (pitches), and then he’ll join us.”

Glasnow threw 67 pitches in 3 ⅔ innings on Friday night.

Glasnow was 3-0 with a 2.72 earned-run average in seven starts when he was placed on the injured list. 

The 6-foot-8 right-hander made a conscious effort to put on weight over the offseason in hopes that it could help him remain healthy. In his first season with the Dodgers, in 2024, his season was cut short by an elbow strain. He missed 2 ½ months last year because of a strained shoulder.

The Dodgers’ rotation is coming together. Two-time Cy Young Award winner Tarik Skubal was acquired before the trade deadline. Blake Snell returned from the injured list on Tuesday night and Shohei Ohtani threw his first bullpen session in more than three weeks on Friday.

Roberts and the front office could be forced to make difficult decisions leading into the postseason. The Dodgers are expected to use a four-man rotation in October, and if Ohtani is able to pitch an inning or two per game as an opener, Glasnow could be asked to pitch out of the bullpen.

Glasnow started three playoff games on the Dodgers’ championship run last year, but he also pitched in three games as a reliever, including the Games 6 and 7.
