Karl-Anthony Towns and Jordyn Woods Get Married in Malibu Wedding

Karl-Anthony Towns received his second ring of this summer when he married Jordyn Woods over the weekend, two months after the Knicks center helped his team win their first N.B.A. championship in 53 years.

Knicks players and reality stars descended on Malibu in all-black attire to celebrate the couple’s union in an outdoor ceremony. The guest list, which had about 250 people, included Justin and Hailey Bieber; Jada Pinkett Smith and Willow Smith (the bride’s late father was a sound engineer on “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”); the groom’s teammates Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart; Ben Stiller, a courtside fixture at Knicks games, and his wife Christine Taylor; and Timothée Chalamet, another Knicks superfan, and Kylie Jenner. (The latter had a public falling out with the bride in 2019, but the two have since reconciled.)

Nicolas Vansteenberghe and Olandria Carthen, a power couple from “Love Island U.S.A.” who announced their split last month, were also spotted together at the wedding.

The event was orchestrated by Mindy Weiss, a celebrity wedding planner behind the nuptials of the Biebers; Ciara and Russell Wilson; and Brooke Shields and Andre Agassi in 1997.

Woods, who wore a Danielle Frankel strapless gown with an attached neck wrap and a long veil, and Towns, who opted for a classic black tuxedo, have been together for more than six years. They bonded over shared grief. Her father died from cancer in 2017, and his mother died from Covid-19 in 2020. “We have been friends for a long time. Naturally, we really connected over both of us losing a parent at a very young age,” Woods, 28, said in an interview in September 2020. The two got engaged on Christmas Day in New York last year.

In an interview with The New York Times in July, Towns opened up about their relationship, explaining that Woods is the first person he calls when he receives news and that she was the most meaningful person to celebrate the Knicks victory with as he remembered his mother. “The next-closest woman in my life was there and able to celebrate that moment with me,” he said, “and seeing all the trials and tribulations it took to get there — traded from Minnesota to New York, coming up short last year, all the trade rumors this year.”

Towns, 30, was not the only basketball star to get married this summer.

There was Tyrese Haliburton, the Indiana Pacers player, who married his Iowa State college sweetheart Jade Jones.

There was Donovan Mitchell of the Cleveland Cavaliers, whom Towns and the Knicks knocked out in this year’s Eastern Conference finals, who wed the R&B singer Coco Jones. The couple married in August at a private residence in New York.

And another star player, Anthony Edwards, the Minnesota Timberwolves shooting guard, married Shannon Jackson in a low-key wedding in July. The two share a child.

Even former N.B.A. players are in on the action. In August, Kenny Smith, who won back-to-back championships with the Houston Rockets in the ’90s and has since become a sports commentator, married a Croatian influencer, Tia Jurcic, in California.
