Watch LeBron James’ near-miss from first-ever ‘hole in 1′ in golf trip with Lakers’ Austin Reaves
LeBron James nearly added another first to his résumé on Sunday — this time nowhere near a basketball court.
The Philadelphia 76ers star came within inches of recording his first career hole-in-one during a golf outing that included former Los Angeles Lakers teammate Austin Reaves, his son Bronny James and members of the Bob Does Sports crew.
James posted the video of the near-ace to Instagram, showing his tee shot tracking toward the flag before the ball rolled agonizingly close to the cup.
“Almost had my first hole in 1 today,” James wrote. “I called it before I swung it too! Damn close.”
The shot came at The Preserve at Bandon Dunes, the Oregon resort’s par-3 course, as James’ relatively new golf obsession continues to grow.
The four-time NBA MVP has increasingly made golf part of his life away from basketball and recently launched a golf-focused YouTube channel. His debut featured a reunion trip to Scotland with members of the 2016 Cavaliers championship team, including J.R. Smith, Kevin Love, Richard Jefferson, Tristan Thompson and Channing Frye.

Sunday’s round also served as another reunion.
James spent the day with Reaves and Bronny despite leaving Los Angeles this offseason to sign with Philadelphia. Reaves remained with the Lakers, but the two have maintained a relationship built partly around their shared enthusiasm for golf.
James has even said he hopes his growing interest in the sport can help make golf more accessible to kids who did not grow up around country clubs or traditional golf environments.
For now, his game appears to be progressing quickly.
The first hole-in-one will have to wait — barely.
