In a season full of wrongs, the Mets got Carson Benge so very right
August 21, 2026
This one will not exactly stun you the way the final scene of “Chinatown” did, or force you to drop your coffee mug to the ground the way Chazz Palminteri did at the end of “The Usual Suspects.” It will not hit you the same way as the first time you saw Tony Soprano look up from the jukebox blaring Journey, just as the TV screen went dark.
But here goes anyway:
The Mets have not gotten a lot of things right this year.
(And sure, if it makes you feel better to insert “David Stearns” in that sentence in place of “Mets,” knock yourself out.)
