Anna Faris details tense conversations with religious son Jack, 14: ‘I try to challenge him’

Anna Faris shared that her 14-year-old son, Jack, has asked her “to accept Jesus Christ” as her savior, and revealed how she challenges his ideas.

“He is … religious,” Faris told Chelsea Handler of her only child, during Thursday’s episode of Spotify’s “Dear Chelsea.” Faris noted that their ideas sometimes clash, as she “didn’t grow up with religion.”

When the “Scary Movie” actress explained that Jack had asked her to accept Jesus Christ, she revealed that she “told him I would do anything for him, including this, but it’s gonna take a whole lot of long conversations.”

Faris, 49, revealed she questions him about typically conservative ideals embraced by some religions.

“I try to challenge him,” she divulged. “I’m like, ‘Do you think it’s a luxury that you get to be pro-life?’ …He’s like, ‘Maybe.’”

“Or I’ll say, ‘So, what do you think of this mega pastor that’s kind of a grifter?’” Faris said. “He’s like, ‘Oh, mega pastors are the worst.’”

The “House Bunny” actress said her son’s responses lean toward “impressive,” and said, “we’re getting there,” when it comes to having a productive discussion.

Faris said that though they don’t always agree, she’s “appreciative” that her son is “examining religion the way he is in terms of recognizing hypocrisy” and that she’s “appreciative [they] can have these long conversations” together.

The “Just Friends” star shares her son with ex-husband Chris Pratt, 47, whom she married in 2009 and divorced in 2018.

He’s since gone on to wed Katherine Schwarzenegger, 36, with whom he now shares three children.

The “Avengers: Endgame” star also happens to be a devout Christian who’s been known to speak out on his own religious beliefs — despite criticism.

Pratt once shared that the premature birth of Jack was a moment that bolstered his faith.

“He had all of these issues going on,” Pratt told the Christian Post in a March 2025 interview.

“I prayed hard to God. I was in a season of transition spiritually at that time, and didn’t quite fully understand,” he continued. “I made a deal with God again: ‘I’m sorry, God, here I am again, asking for your grace again.’”

He continued, “He really saved my son, and that was the moment [my faith] was cemented. My heart softened, and my faith hardened, That was the moment that I was like, ‘Moving forward, I’m going to give my platform to God.’”
