Young mom killed in SoCal street racing crash as her younger brother arrested for driving rival car

A 21-year-old mother tragically died in a street racing crash in Orange County — with her younger brother arrested for driving the competing car.

Shalia Deciderio, of Rancho Santa Margarita, she was a passenger riding in a Nissan Infiniti that went off the road and crashed into a tree near Los Alisos Boulevard and Mustang Run in Mission Viejo around 9:41 p.m. Thursday.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The car’s driver, 20-year-old Jaime Rojas of Mission Viejo, survived the crash and was in critical but stable condition.

Deciderio’s younger brother, 20-year-old Aiden Deciderio, was driving another Nissan Inifiniti allegedly racing Rojas’ car.

Aiden stayed at the scene after the crash. He and Rojas are both facing potential charges of of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence in Shalia’s death, according to KTLA.

Aiden was arrested and booked on Friday morning, while Rojas is expected to be booked after his release from the hospital.

A GoFundMe was launched to cover Shalia’s funeral expenses, as well as to help care for her young child.

“[Her] presence brought warmth, joy, and love to family and friends, and this loss has left an unimaginable emptiness in the hearts of those who loved Shalia. Shalia also leaves behind a precious young child, who is now facing life without a parent.”

More than $4,700 of the fundraiser’s $13,000 goal had been raised as of Saturday morning.
