Pair of quick-acting cops rescue baby from near death, bodycam footage shows
A pair of quick-acting Tennessee cops rushed to save a baby’s life this week after receiving a frantic call that a one-month-old had suddenly stopped breathing, dramatic bodycam footage shows.
When Knoxville Police Department officers Clayton McWilliams and Veronica Jackson showed up to the scene Wednesday night, a crying woman who was holding the infant can be seen giving it to the officers, while wailing, “Help, please!”
The duo immediately cleared the newborn’s airway by massaging its back, and when the little one miraculously started crying in McWilliams’ arms — the concerned loved ones gathered around all breathed a collective sigh of relief.
“We are grateful to Officers McWilliams and Jackson for their decisive actions and composure when it mattered most,” Knoxville police said in a Facebook and Instagram post on Friday.
People praised the heroic officers, with comments like, “People seem to forget that police officers save 100s of lives a day.”
“God bless these officers. Imagine there are people out in the world that think we should defund the police,” another added.
