Will Ospreay wrestling for the AEW World championship in the main event at Wembley Stadium is a culmination of multiple uncertain journeys for the English star.

Personally, it’s the end of a path he set out on at 14 when his parents had a ring built in his Essex yard when he was becoming “a little bit of a menace.”

“I came off the streets,” Ospreay said. “I want to say all of my trouble-making mates all came to my garden and done wrestling shows that we filmed and edited ourselves and created our own storylines.” 

Professionally, Ospreay has worked his way from the British and European independents to New Japan and now three-plus years in AEW as he has chased his idol and current champion Kenny Omega across continents to the main event of All In on Aug. 30 at Wembley Stadium (1 p.m., HBO Max, Prime Video). He grew up dreaming of a championship moment like this while working for his uncle’s mastic firm, sealing windows, doors and more at England’s most iconic sports venue.
