Cam Skattebo in middle of Giants skirmish as tempers flare

Observations from Wednesday’s Giants practice:

Something good

The forgotten man in the receiver discussion – 2022 playoff star Isaiah Hodgins, who returned to the Giants late last season – made an off-balance one-handed catch on the sideline and got his feet down before falling out of bounds. He also caught a two-point conversion pass. Darnell Mooney and Odell Beckham were also very involved, with Beckham catching a touchdown pass on a similar route to his end-zone drop against the Dolphins.

Something bad

The Giants false-started twice during the move-the-ball period as QB Jaxson Dart toys with a hard count that seems to be doing more harm than good.

Caught my eye

The Giants made it through training camp without an intra-squad fight, but the closest thing to tempers boiling over was Wednesday when RB Cam Skattebo and DBs Greg Newsome and Jevon Holland had to be separated. Brian Burns was in coach John Harbaugh’s ear after the whistle. Skattebo later made his way over the defensive sideline to make peace.

Injury report

WR Malik Nabers unexpectedly left practice during the final drill – walking side-by-side with return-to0play coordinator Allie Boudreau into the facility – but Harbaugh said he would have heard after practice if there was an injury. DT Shelby Harris worked on the side with a trainer during team drills. Theo Johnson (shoulder) came out to practice late and watched from the sideline. RG Sisi Maugioa and RT Jermaine Eluemunor returned to full participants.
