Why the U.S. Open is the perfect setting for the Williams sisters to add to their legend

The Williams sisters are eternal.

Four years after tennis fans in Flushing clapped Serena Williams off the Arthur Ashe Stadium stage and into what they thought was retirement, the 23-time Grand Slam singles champion is returning to the U.S. Open main draw and teaming back up with her sister Venus in the women’s doubles tournament.

The USTA announced the legendary sisters’ wild-card entry into the tournament on Wednesday, setting up a highly anticipated spectacle that only has so many tickets left to be sold.

For the Williams sisters, there is no better backdrop than the U.S. Open.
