Tomas Nido is back.

The longtime former Met catcher is extending his baseball career, has signed a minor league deal to play in the Red Sox organization, according to his MLB player page.

Nido hasn’t been on a major league roster since a 10-game stint with the Tigers in 2025, when he hit .343 across 35 at-bats with two RBIs while putting up a .704 OPS.

The move comes after he spent the first several months of the 2026 season in the Tigers organization before being released on July 21.

Nido, 32, will provide additional organizational depth behind the plate for Boston and is expected to report to Triple-A Worcester.

Nido played 43 games for Triple-A Toledo this season, batting .236 with a .317 on-base percentage and .368 slugging percentage.

He recorded 34 hits in 144 at-bats, including 10 doubles and three home runs, while driving in 10 runs.

Nido’s career is primarily associated with his tenure as a Met.

The Mets selected Nido in the eighth round of the 2012 MLB Draft out of Orangewood Christian School in Florida. The Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, native spent several years developing in the Amazin’s minor league system prior to his MLB debut in September 2017.

Nido remained with the organization through his June 2024 release, spending parts of eight seasons with the big league club and becoming a mainstay in the catching rotation.

Nido was a longtime Mets backup due to his proficiency behind the plate and occasional serviceable bat.

His biggest opportunity came in 2022, when he appeared in a career-high 98 games for a Mets team that won 101 games and reached the postseason before losing to the Padres in the wild-card round.

Nido hit .239 with a .276 on-base percentage and .324 slugging percentage that season with 68 hits, 15 doubles, three home runs and 28 RBIs.
