‘Adults’ Stars On Filming Issa, Anton, And Paul Baker’s Unhinged Possum Foursome: “We Were Making Out For Eight Hours”

Two’s company, and three’s a crowd. But Adults Season 2 proves that three and a possum is a match made in comedy heaven.

The highly anticipated sophomore season of Ben Kronengold and Rebecca Shaw’s twenty-something hangout comedy hit Hulu on Thursday, August 27, and if Season 1’s standout episode was “Roast Chicken,” Season 2’s most hilarious gem is undoubtedly “Raccoon.”

Don’t get me wrong. I love every second we spend with Samir (Malik Elassal), Billie (Lucy Freyer), Issa (Amita Rao), Anton (Owen Thiele), and Paul Baker (Jack Innanen). But Season 2, Episode 4 ridiculously raises the stakes when a raccoon (and eventually a possum) crashes Acid Night. As expected, chaos ensues! But trespassing animals aren’t the only thing weighing on Issa and Paul Baker’s minds. Thanks to Billie and Samir’s misguided futzing, the two are majorly overthinking their relationship.

When Issa assumes Paul Baker wants an open relationship and finds him in his room with Anton, she naturally initiates a threesome in hopes that her two housemates can “get it out of [their] systems.” In case that wasn’t complex and chaotic enough, the possum that waltzed into the house earlier climbs up Issa’s back mid-makeout, technically transforming the threesome into a foursome.

“When I read that, I was like, ‘We’ve lost the plot.’ I was genuinely like, ‘What are we involved in? What is this?!’” Thiele shared during a cast interview in DECIDER’s Midtown Manhattan studio. “Getting on it and putting it on its feet with these geniuses — it actually, in a weird way, felt sexy still. Even though there was genuinely a possum in it.”

After Issa urges the boys to kiss, she takes her shirt off and starts kissing Paul Baker’s shoulders as he makes out with Anton. When he switches to Issa and Anton tries to leave, Paul Baker sexily grabs Anton’s thigh in a subtle but swoonworthy show of affection.

“I was thinking, ‘Why would Anton stay here?’” Thiele admitted. “And then Jack found this leg grab that rooted Anton. You found that.”

“Yeah, there was like so much choreography,” Innanen added. “[We were making out] for a long time. And I remember we changed it at one point. And did the hand grab. There was a lot of improv that got cut. But I need to give credit to Ben for that. We were talking about that, and he was like, ‘Hand grab.’ And I was like, ‘That’s what it has to be.’”

After Paul Baker anchors him, Anton sits back on the bed, ready to lock lips again. After kissing Issa and getting hot and heavy with Paul Baker, however, he notices the possum that waltzed into the house earlier is climbing up Issa’s back.

The threesome was the first twist. The possum foursome was the second. And the third — and perhaps wildest — twist is that instead of screaming, pumping the brakes, or alerting Issa of the creepy marsupial on her body, Anton simply widens his eyes, decides against it, and resumes kissing his dream man.

“That was a really fun thing to play with, because Anton in that moment had to choose between being a good person and wanting to still kiss Paul Baker, and he chose the kiss,” Thiele reflected. After a few more seconds of smooching, Billie (Lucy Freyer) and Samir (Malik Elassal) burst through the door, clock the possum, and start screaming — as does Issa!

While Rao wasn’t thrilled that Anton chose Paul Baker over Issa’s body, she assures fans the scene “Was really, really fun.”

“We love Sanaz Toossi’s writing. She’s incredible,” Rao said, shouting out the same writer of “Roast Chicken.” (No wonder “Racoon” is a banger!) “I loved the slapstick of that moment. It was so fun to play, especially when they let us do longer shots where Christine Ng, our DP, would just follow us around with the camera. We were making out for eight hours.”

Thank you for your service, Adults trio (and possum). You gifted the world one of the funniest, unexpectedly sexy scenes of 2026.
