“We are aware of the incident involving Keenan Allen last night,” the Colts said in a statement. “We are in the process of gathering more information and have no further comment at this time.”

Police said officers noticed signs of intoxication while speaking with Allen and subsequently placed him under arrest.

The 34-year-old faces preliminary misdemeanor charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing endangerment.

His first scheduled court date is Sept. 16.

The timing comes less than two weeks after Indianapolis signed Allen and only hours after he made his first appearance for the franchise.

Allen signed a one-year contract with the Colts on Aug. 19.

The deal includes a base value of $3.32 million — $2.81 million of which was guaranteed at signing — that could reach up to $8.32 million through incentives.

Allen didn’t appear in either of Indianapolis’ first two preseason games after joining the team late in training camp.

As for his lone preseason appearance, it was brief but productive.

Allen caught his only target for 24 yards early in the contest before leaving after Indianapolis’ opening possession, which ended with a 46-yard field goal.

The Colts lost to the Lions 25-16 to close out the preseason and will be hosting the Ravens to begin their regular season on Sept. 13.

Allen joined Indianapolis after spending the 2025 season back with the Chargers, catching 81 passes for 777 yards and four touchdowns across 17 games.

He did most of his damage early — recording 44 catches, 435 yards and all of his touchdowns in the first seven weeks of the season.

The six-time Pro Bowler has 1,055 receptions for 12,051 yards and 70 touchdowns during his NFL career.

He ranks 13th in league history in receptions, though he is just 47 away from breaking into the top five.
