The Red Sox radio broadcast of the game Sunday was critical of Jazz Chisholm Jr. stealing second and third base in the eighth inning with the Yankees leading by six runs.

WEEI play-by-play man Will Flemming suggested the reliever in the game, Jovani Morán, should fight Chisholm and throw at the batter, Austin Wells. Flemming also called Chisholm a “bush league player” who “plays the wrong way.”

I think Chisholm too often prioritizes style over substance and is too oblivious to the scoreboard and what the game needs in the moment. Earlier Sunday, he walked the last few feet to first base in the fifth inning on the controversial non-catch by center fielder Ceddanne Rafaela and thus nearly invited an out. It was the wrong way to play.

But I had no problem with what Chisholm did in the eighth inning.
