A 2-year-old boy was killed and his mom found attempting self-harm in a “domestic-related homicide” in suburban Chicago that a neighbor compared to the harrowing Lindsay Clancy case.

Police were summoned to a home in Frankfort, Ill. Tuesday afternoon on a report of an unresponsive child where they found a 2-year-old boy being given CPR, according to Patch.

The unidentified child was rushed to a local hospital but was later pronounced dead.

The boy’s mom was also found inside the home attempting self-harm, officials said without elaborating or identifying her. She was brought to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Cops called the incident a “domestic-related homicide” based on their preliminary investigation.

“Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this tragedy,” police said. “We encourage our community to support one another with compassion, understanding, and strength as we navigate this difficult time together.”

Neighbors told NBC Chicago that they couldn’t help but draw comparisons to the ongoing trial of Lindsay Clancy, who admitted strangling her three young children to death before jumping out a window head-first in an attempt to kill herself.

“This is just absolutely heartbreaking to understand what happened a couple blocks away and that it’s impacting our community,” said neighbor Carolyn Pappas, who lives near where the incident took place.

“This is just absolutely devastating, that this could be another Lindsay Clancy situation in our neighborhood, in our community. You never think it’s going to hit so close to home,” she said.

“And so yeah, that absolutely makes us think of that. And again, just more people I think are struggling than we realize and so we just need to be there for one another.”

She said the episode is a wake-up call that “someone could be suffering potentially so badly next door and we don’t know that.”
