Hate crimes in New York City soared over the last year, fueled by antisemitic attacks against Jewish people — even as the Big Apple boasted the safest summer on record, according to new crime statistics released by the NYPD.

The new data, released just weeks ahead of Jewish high holidays of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, revealed that overall hate crimes jumped by 15.8% over the last year — 425 in 2026 vs. 367 in 2025.

Anti-Jewish hate crimes specifically have jumped by 8% and accounted for more than half of the confirmed hate crimes within the first eight months of this year, despite Jewish New Yorkers only accounting for about 10% of the Big Apple’s population.

The sickening crimes — including violent ones like the stabbing of a Jewish man outside of an Upper West Side synagogue in July — have continued to rise, even as the NYPD said it had overseen the safest summer ever recorded.

From June 1 through August 31, the city saw the lowest number of shooting incidents, shooting victims, and murders in recorded history over the same time period.

There were 195 shootings reported over the summer, 32 less than the record low of 227 set last year.

There were 249 shooting victims, 44 fewer than the previous record low of 293 set in 2018, and 66 murders, 12 fewer than the previous record low of 78 set in 2017
