Bronny James appears to be entering the Lakers’ season solo — and not just because his dad took his talents to Philadelphia.

Bronny had been dating Parker Whitfield since at least October 2024. This is when the two went social media official with their relationship, but they could have been together for longer, as they met in high school.

Then it came out that Bronny and Whitfield unfollowed each other on social media in August, which seemed to indicate that they had broken up.

Whitfield celebrated her 22nd birthday earlier this week. And the social media posts her parents made about it seemed to throw subtle shade at Bronny.

Parker’s father, actor Dondré Whitfield, celebrated his daughter’s birthday by posting two selfies of them together on Instagram. In the post’s caption he signed off by writing, “The forever man in your life.”

This sounds like the sort of thing a father would say to reassure his daughter after she had gone through a breakup.

Parker’s mother, Hollywood producer Salli Richardson-Whitfield, made a post of her own that also seemed to throw shade at Bronny.

In her post’s caption, she wrote, “Don’t ever worry about the people who are incapable of seeing what a shining star you are because your world is gonna be filled with so much love and light, all the negative things will fall to the curb.”
