Michigan State lineman pukes mid-snap in appalling scene

In a gross scene that unfolded during the fourth quarter Friday night, Michigan State offensive lineman Robert Wright Jr. vomited mid-snap as the Spartans attempted a two-point conversion.

As quarterback Alessio Milivojevic dropped back, Wright, who lined up at right tackle, vomited before continuing to block a Toledo defensive player, with Milivojevic ultimately connecting with Rodney Bullard Jr. in the corner of the end zone to give the Spartans a seven-point lead in their 30-20 victory.

Wright, a redshirt junior making his Michigan State debut after transferring from Georgia Southern, is one of the incoming players to join the Spartans after they hired former Northwestern coach Pat Fitzgerald — who hadn’t coached since the end of the 2022 season after getting fired amid hazing and racism allegations against the Wildcats program.

Fitzgerald sued Northwestern for wrongful termination and reached a settlement with the university in 2025, maintaining that he had no knowledge of the hazing within the program and never “directed or encouraged it.”

Wright started 11 games at right tackle for Georgia Southern last year and joined the Spartans with three years of eligibility remaining, according to MLive.com, after sustaining a broken arm in 2023 that prompted a redshirt and not appearing in any games the following season.

But given his strides from 2025, Wright gave the Spartans’ overhauled line something to build on.

For one night, at least, Michigan State survived, taking a late lead on Milivojevic’s touchdown pass to Bullard — before the viral two-point conversion play — and holding on despite trailing against a Mid-American Conference team early in the fourth quarter.

The Spartans, who went 4-8 in 2025 and haven’t made a bowl game since the Peach Bowl in 2021, will host Eastern Michigan next week before a major test at No. 4 Notre Dame.

Milivojevic completed 26 of 34 passes for 247 yards and a touchdown against Toledo while getting sacked three times, and Bullard caught seven passes for 90 yards and the decisive touchdown.

In another viral moment from the game, the pants of running back Cam Edwards fell down after he was tackled.
