A Seattle teen stabbed a man he met on a dating app who allegedly sent him twisted videos of child sex abuse and will now spend five years behind bars, while the accused sicko is walking free.

Elijah Cruz Valenzuela, then 19, drove a knife into the chest of Joshua Field, 46, at his downtown Portland apartment on Aug. 11, 2025 around 8:13 p.m. after the sicko sent him the disgusting videos, The Oregonian reported.

Valenzuela called 911 and turned himself in to be arrested, telling cops, “I stabbed a pedophile,” according to body-worn camera footage obtained by the outlet. 

The knifeman said that he had met Field on the dating app Sniffles, where the perv allegedly sent him videos of child sex abuse, which Valenzuela claimed were quickly deleted by moderators on the app. 

Valenzuela also told cops that the much older man had invited him over to his apartment to watch videos together and was “inquiring if Valenzuela was ‘pervy’ and if he was interested in younger guys,” according to a police report. 

Valenzuela had a clean record prior to the stabbing, and claimed in court that he was a victim of sexual assault as a child. He also claimed he had only meant to beat him up before he wound up grabbing a knife.

He pleaded to first-degree assault and first-degree burglary charges last month, and was sentenced to five years in prison for the vigilante justice.

Field, who survived the brutal knifing, had been investigated in the past for having child sex abuse material, records obtained by the outlet show. 

Documents show that two men who had met Field on the dating app Grindr both alleged that he’d shown them videos of child sex abuse back in 2021, but police closed the investigation due to a lack of evidence. 

While Field has not been charged with any crimes in Oregon, he was hit by prosecutors in California nine months later for charges relating to possessing videos of child sex abuse. 

Field’s lawyer, Stuart Kirchick, denied the claims made by Valenzuela and California prosecutors in a statement to The Oregonian on behalf of his client.
