Rep. Jamie Raskin is the latest Democrat to proclaim that Hasan Piker and his rancid views are merely an “irrelevant distraction.”

It’s a dangerous, cynical lie.

Raskin (Md.) made his remarks Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” after host Kristen Welker asked about Michigan’s Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed’s ties to Piker, given the influencer’s pro-Hamas, anti-Israel views.

“Obviously, nobody supports Hamas,” Raskin replied.

Sorry, that’s dead wrong: Pew polls show 13% of Democrats — 17% among those age 18-29 — do favor Hamas. Among Muslims, it’s an alarming 44%.

And support has been growing, as has hatred of Israel (and Jews).

Piker’s toxic statements go even further: “America deserved 9/11,” he claims. The banner of Hezbollah is his “favorite flag.” The streets should run with the “red capitalist blood” of landlords.

Such outrageous rhetoric, coupled with his ties to supposedly respectable pols (like Raskin) only feed a ballooning appetite for political violence, anti-American vitriol and Jew-hatred.

Ignoring such poisonous incitement is akin to remaining silent in pre-Holocaust Germany.

Yet that’s exactly what Dems want voters to do; they refuse to speak out against Piker — and even hang out with him — in a cynical appeal to his sick fans.

El-Sayed, the Democratic senate nominee from Michigan, shrugs his shoulders and pretends to wonder what the fuss is.

“If you want to make this race about a streamer in California,” he guilefully says, “I just think you’re missing the boat.”

Until a few weeks ago El-Sayed couldn’t get enough of Piker’s poisonous brand, begging the “streamer from California” to stump for him.

Michigan Rep. Debbie Dingell actually told reporters not to “ask me again about Hasan Piker.” It’s not “what November is about,” she argued.

In fact, until about 10 minutes ago, Dems were elated that, in Piker, they had found a buff influencer who would deliver impressionable young men to the left.

In one of the mainstream media’s innumerable adoring profiles, The New York Times celebrated him as “a progressive mind in a MAGA body.”

Piker has been arm candy for all the major Democrat leftists: Reps. Ro Khanna, AOC, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib and Pramila Jayapal, Sen. Bernie Sanders and Mayor Zohran Mamdani were all giddy about appearing with their dream boy.

Even leaders like Sen. Chuck Schumer can muster only the flabbiest response to the embodiment of antisemitism and terror infecting his party.

OK, some Democrats have warned about the danger that Piker poses, and they deserve credit: Sens. Cory Booker and John Fetterman and Reps. Hillary Scholten and Josh Gottheimer have denounced him and warned fellow Dems they risk poisoning the party by teaming up with him.

More Democrats need to do likewise and refute the suggestion that Piker is just a distraction.

They may have their eye on votes, but the fate of not just the party but the nation is at stake.
