NYPD hunting for antisemitic brute who slapped victim’s yarmulke off in NYC attack

An accused antisemite attacked a Jewish man in lower Manhattan in May and now the NYPD’s hate crimes unit is asking for the public’s help to identify the hateful sicko.

A 39-year-old man was attacked from behind and had his yarmulke slapped off his head by the unidentified brute as he was entering a business near Whitehall Street and Stone Street around 1 p.m. on May 5, police said.

The victim’s yarmulke skullcap fell to the ground, but fortunately no injuries were reported, according to the NYPD.

The suspect ran off following the antisemitic display.

The department’s hate crimes task force is investigating the Financial District attack and released photos of the suspected bigot Tuesday evening.

In the images released by police, the suspect has a dark complexion with short — possibly shaved — hair and a moderate build.

The suspected antisemite was seen wearing a grey tracksuit, black flat-brim cap and white sneakers.

At the time of the attack, he was wearing a gray camouflage tracksuit with a black flat-brim snapback hat and white sneakers.

He was also carrying a black and gray crossbody bag as well as a black plastic bag.

The unprovoked attack occurred at 1 Whitehall Street, which houses a Duane Reade pharmacy and a post office.

Following the vile assault, the hateful menace fled on foot, police said.
