For the first time since 1975, the top four seeds in the women’s singles draw will play in the semifinals at the US Open.

Aryna Sabalenka will face off against Jessica Pegula in the first semifinal, where she’ll continue her bid to win her third-straight US Open. It’s a rematch of last year’s semifinal, which Sabalenka went on to win.

Pegula, the third-ranked player and highest-seeded American, is still chasing her first Grand Slam title, but she’ll have to beat Sabalenka tonight for the chance to play in the final. In 13 career meetings, Sabalenka has the edge with nine wins, but Pegula took their most recent meeting in the semifinals of the 2026 Berlin Open.

Elena Rybakina, who will become the world No. 1 when new rankings are published on Sept. 14, will continue her quest for her first US Open title in the second semifinal of the evening against 2023 US Open champion Coco Gauff.

Rybakina and Gauff have less history on the court, with just two previous meetings. Most recently, Rybakina came back from a set down to beat Gauff in the semifinals of the Canadian Open in August 2026.
