Coco Gauff’s US Open run comes to crashing end in semifinal loss to Elena Rybakina

Despite her best efforts, there will be no Grand Slam win for Coco Gauff this year.

No. 2 seed Elena Rybakina knocked off Gauff 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 to reach the U.S. Open final after a thrilling semifinal match at Arthur Ashe Stadium on Thursday night.

Gauff, the 2023 champ, had the chance for a rematch of that final with Aryna Sabalenka had she won.

But it’ll instead be Rybakina taking on the top seed.

Rybakina already knocked off Sabalenka in the Australian Open final this year, so the Grand Slam season will have a fitting bookend on the women’s singles side.
