The mathematical way to calculate the size of a shadow is to divide the height of the object by the tangent of the sun’s altitude angle.

Booooooooooooooring.

You don’t need to know Mike Tomlin’s height (about 5-foot-9) or the sun’s positioning in the sky to know that the Super Bowl-winning former Steelers head coach is going to cast an enormous shadow over every NFL head coach on a hot seat this season from his throne on NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” studio set.  

Even Tomlin knows it.
